(Jan. 7, 2016) WORTHINGTON, Ohio – A new tax preparation business has opened its doors in Worthington, ready to help local taxpayers navigate the 2016 tax season.

Simplitax, an affiliate of Worthington-based accounting firm Whalen & Company, CPAs, will prepare federal, state and local income tax returns for individual taxpayers.

“It has been estimated that U.S. taxpayers spend around six billion hours to prepare, complete and file taxes every year.  Simplitax’s mission is to make tax return filing as simple as possible, and let taxpayers find better ways to spend that time” said Lisa Shuneson, CPA, PFS, Partner at parent firm Whalen & Company.

“We are excited about serving new clients with Simplitax’s competitive rates and convenient services,” said Shuneson.

Those services include free “tax time” workshops to provide tax code updates and news to taxpayers; a time-saving service that allows clients to drop off paperwork and have their tax returns prepared without waiting in line; and special tax courier services for qualified Central Ohio employers.

Simplitax will operate within Whalen & Company’s parent offices at 250 West Old Wilson Bridge Rd., Suite 300 in Worthington during the 2016 tax year, with plans to expand in 2017.  The business is currently accepting new clients.
